The current M1 Mac mini is still more than capable here in 2021, but unless someone absolutely needs a computer this very instant, it's probably worth holding off a little while longer for the M1X variant to arrive. In the latest update of his Power On newsletter, Apple analyst Mark Gurman says the current Mac mini will "go away in the next several months with a high-end M1X Mac mini."
